HEYBURN – Alex Quintin Garcia, 37 years old, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, in Boise after a month-long, ferocious battle with Covid-19.

Alex was born July 11, 1984, in Burley Idaho, the son of Jose Juan and Sharma Lee Garcia. He attended school in Burley, Idaho, home of the Bobcats, where he met the mother of his child and high school sweetheart, Lucila Magaña Santana. Together they lived briefly in south Texas and central Arkansas where they worked for Wayne Farms before returning home to Idaho to start their family.

Alex worked numerous jobs in his time including field work in the beet farms, Morgan Pickle, manager of Flying J and Love’s Truck Stops, installer of steel buildings for Coast to Coast Carports, IdaPro, hot-shotting, and was the #1 driver at Idaho Milk. Alex owned and operated Garcia Transport, Inc. and was also involved in various entrepreneurial endeavors, including, The J Crew.

Alex was the most hard-working and generous person most people have ever known, and he would not have it any other way. He was always working from the time he was a kid, and always took pride in making his own way. Even in the hard times, he would not ask for help but rather open his home and his wallet to help others. Alex, although hardworking and rarely sleeping enough, was a jokester and life of the party! He lived to make people laugh and could tell and act out stories so well. Watching him tell a story was usually way more funny and entertaining than the actual story! Alex enjoyed the great outdoors: fishing, hiking, kayaking, and traveling were amongst his favorite things to do. But, at the top of that list, has always been FOOD! Alex loved to eat and was known to drop a ridiculous amount of money on food! He would bring friends and family along to share in the deliciousness, all while paying the entire bill because he enjoyed feeding people and creating memories with them over meals. When you became Alex’s friend, you became family!

Alex is survived by his only child, his pride and joy, Jovana Garcia of Heyburn; his parents, Jose Juan Garcia of Ringling, Oklahoma, and Sharma Lee Pena of Burley; his grandparents, Petra Garcia of Edinburgh, Texas, and Lloyd and Sharla Fox of Las Vegas, Nevada; his favorite and only sister, Sara (Armando) Escamilla of Pottsville, Arkansas; his twin brothers, Skyler (Kortni) Gonzalez of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Tyler (Dominique) Gonzalez of Burley; seven nieces and nephews; his baby Mamas, the chihuahua; as well as, numerous friends who have become family.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Wallace and Viola Day, Jose and Andrea Renteria, and Hermerjildo and Josefina Garcia; his abuelo, Jose Guadalupe Garcia; his aunt, Yvette Veltri Dudley; numerous friends; along with his baby English bully, Arizona; and other numerous fur babies, a rabbit, pet lizards, and pet turtles.

Alex’s favorite colors were red and black and, although not required, we’d love for all to show your love for him through wearing his favorite colors at his funeral. In true trucker fashion, we further welcome CDL drivers to bring their trucks, decorated if you wish, and parade around Burley after the funeral in celebration and remembrance of Alex's life; all the while honking the horn and jake-braking!

The funeral will be held at 12 noon Saturday, October 16, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, October 15, and from 10:30 until 11:45 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
